Portland: City Hotels and Accommodation
The most popular hotels is the area lie in the very heart of the city, which is approximately 9 miles / 14 km to the southwest of Portland International Airport (PDX). Here you will find accommodation to suit most budgets, although hotel rates can be quite high during the height of the peak season, between July and August, quickly dropping as winter approaches.
Popular with those traveling on a tight budget, a number of chain motels reside on the outskirts of the city, along the I-95, around Exit 8. Hotels are also concentrated in the city's main districts, as follows.
Cultural District
Full of cultural attractions for all ages, hotels in this part of Portland are conveniently located close to art galleries, museums and theaters. Worthy of a mention, the Inn and Park Spring is situated near to the Portland Museum of Art, along Spring Street, and is an appealing and historic building, dating back to the 1830s.
Hawthorne District
Without doubt the Portland's funkiest area, the Hawthorne district exudes a distinctive Bohemian atmosphere, featuring an interesting selection of ethnic eateries, cafés and specialty shops on offer. With a laid back atmosphere and many colorful characters, a number of hotels provide reasonably priced lodging in this neighborhood.
Lloyd District
Situated on the eastern side of Portland, the Lloyd district is a pleasant mixture of residential areas and commerce, with a diverse selection of accommodation to match. Old Town / Chinatown

Pearl District
Portland's Pearl district is known as a chic and happening neighborhood, with accommodation to match this strongly defined image. Following considerable renovation over recent years, vast warehouses have been dramatically converted into stylish restaurants, galleries and entertainment venues, with plenty of hotels nearby. Self-catering loft apartments can also be found in this area, providing impressive views of the surrounding cityscape.
West End
A peaceful and mainly residential part of Portland, the West End district offers a number of accommodation options, including numerous charming bed and breakfasts. Amongst the most popular, the Pomegranate Inn is a stately home and is located along Neal Street, boasting eight affordable rooms.
